USE & CARE

WOOD

Replenishment:

Step 1: Clean the surface with a mild soapy water solution. Wipe the surface dry.

Step 2: Apply a neutral furniture oil with a soft cloth. Excess oil must be removed 30 minutes after application.

Step 3: Polish with a clean cloth until an even look is attained. The oil will not harden until after 12 hours. Do not cover any of the surface until the oil has hardened.

Re-treatment of your Oak product in case of extra Wear & Tear:

Step 1: Clean the surface with a mild soapy water solution. Wipe the surface dry.

Step 2: Sand the surface lightly with 220-280 grit sandpaper until an even surface is attained. Important note: Sand along the grains of the wood. Clean the surface with a wet cloth.

Step 3: Layer 1: Apply a neutral or white furniture oil with a soft cloth – wait approximately 30 minutes . Layer 2: Apply yet another layer on top of the wet oil so the surface appears glossy for another 30 minute

Step 4: Remove excess oil no later than 30 minutes after the application of the last layer (bringing the length of the oil treatment to a total of 60 minutes before wiping off).

Step 5: Polish with a clean cloth until an even look is attained. The oil will not harden until after 12 hours. Do not cover any of the surface until the oil has hardened.

Please note: Cloths with oil on them should be discarded in an airtight bag along with a little water. The cloths are combustible and highly flammable.

Re-treatment of your Ash product in Case of extra Wear & Tear:

Step 1: Make a soapy water solution with the appropriate amount of soap flakes.

Step 2: Sand the surface lightly with 220-280 grit sandpaper until an even surface is attained. Important note: Sand along the grains of the wood.

Step 3: Wash the table evenly with the soapy water solution. Also wash the underside of the tabletop to prevent the wood from warping. Repeat Step 3 as many times as you like.

GLASSWARE - DISHWASHER AND MAINTENANCE TIPS

Water hardness:

The properties of the water, especially its hardness, play a major role in the use of a dishwasher. Very soft water can result in clouded glass (deformations in the surface of the glass), while very hard water can leave deposits on the surface of the glass. We advise finding out about water hardness and adjusting the dishwasher’s settings accordingly.

Wash temperature:

The ideal temperature for washing glassware in a dishwasher is max. 131°F. Too high a temperature can result in clouded glass.

Dishwasher salt and rinse aid:

Use the correct quantities of dishwasher salt and rinse aid, appropriate for local water hardness, to ensure that glassware comes out of the dishwasher hygienic, clean and sparkling.

Wash cycle:

We recommend using the dishwasher’s glassware cycle for washing glasses, and dosing the detergent powder or gel as directed. Use less dishwasher detergent if the dishwasher is not completely full.

Be aware that the dishwasher’s “eco” cycle reduces the amount of water used. If you use this cycle, therefore, you will also need to reduce the amount of detergent to avoid clouded glass.

Do not store glasses heads down in the cupboard. Any residual moisture from washing can cause a moisture chamber in the glasses which will “attack” the surface of the glass, leading in turn to cloudiness.

CERAMICS

Hammershøi:

We recommend that candlesticks, vases, decanters, storage jars and all wooden parts of the Hammershøi series be washed by hand and never with steel wool.

The Hammershøi range is dishwasher proof, but with caution. We always recommend placing the parts carefully in the dishwasher with plenty of room for other dishes. The Hammershøi service is microwave proof at low power. However, remember to avoid rapid temperature changes as this can cause the glaze to crack

Do not allow candles to burn out in the Hammershøi candle holders and always place the candle holders on a non-combustible surface.

Urbania light house:

Only use tea lights in foil cups. Always place the tea light in the centre of the tea light house. Always place the tea light house on a non-flammable surface. Do not touch or move the tea light house, when the tea light is lit, as it may be very hot. Only use tea lights that burn for up to 4 hours. To avoid fire, never cover the tea light house when the tea light is lit.
